Cooper House Statement about 4/16/07

Presbyterian Campus Ministry (PCM)

Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Virginia Tech carries out the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s ministry to and with Virginia's largest research university. The ministry is a covenant partnership with four covenant partner churches (Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, Northside Presbyterian Church, and Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church), the Presbytery of the Peaks, and the Westminster Foundation. We are also supported by the Friends of Cooper House, founded in the early 1960s for the purpose of providing financial and spiritual support to the ministry. The office of Presbyterian Campus Ministry is located in Cooper House, adjacent to the Virginia Tech campus.

How can you support the campus ministry at Virginia Tech?

The campus ministry is financially supported by Presbytery of the Peaks, the annual budgets of our four covenant partner churches, and gifts from friends. Due to recent budget cuts at the Synod level, local congregations and the campus ministry board are gradually assuming more responsibility for oversight and funding of the ministry. To this end, an Endowment Fund was created to provide income to strengthen and support the ministry into the future. You can help by supporting the Endowment Fund as follows:
  • Designate a cash contribution, large or small, for the Endowment Fund for the Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Virginia Tech
  • Make a gift to the Endowment Fund in honor or in memory of a loved one
  • Make a gift of securities to the Endowment Fund
  • Contribute real property (land/buildings)
  • Name this ministry as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy
  • Arrange for a gift in trust, naming a beneficiary for her/his lifetime, with the residual passing to this ministry upon the death of the beneficiary
  • Include this ministry in your will
  • Set up an annuity gift plan, providing largely tax-free income during your life, with this ministry as the beneficiary
Please contact Cooper House with questions about how you can support our ministry.
